The Road to SummerSlam: This Takeover is For You

Summertime in the wrasslin world has been a tremendous one in the year 2015. Whether it’s been Lucha Underground, NXT, WWE, TNA, Ring Of Honor, or the recently finished New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax tournament it has all been excellent quality. That being said all good things must come to an end, and with our case summer is wrapping up faster than usual, but of course there can be no summer without SummerSlam weekend. This year’s biggest party of the summer is being built as the biggest SummerSlam ever and the treatment it’s receiving is undeniable.

From the moment the advertisement showed up during last year’s SummerSlam that the event was coming back east after years of being in LA I was going ape shit and losing my mind. I KNEW I needed to be at this event from the jump, and even in the beginning when it was slated to be at the IZOD Center in New Jersey. Once the the IZOD Center announced it was shutting it’s doors and wouldn’t host SummerSlam I prayed to wrestling god’s for either the Barclays Center or Madison Square Garden. For whatever reason MSG doesn’t host live shows in recent years, house shows? Yea. Live television shows? It’s been quite sometime.

With all of this factoring in, I love the idea of the Barclays Center (It’s easier traveling wise than MSG since I live in Brooklyn). All of the hype around SummerSlam increased more when it was revealed that SummerSlam was getting WrestleMania treatment with the event being 4 hours long. That has NEVER happened before and for that sake alone you knew WWE was going to attempt and pull out all the stops.

If you’ve been tuning into wegotleagues.com these past few weeks. I’ve been kindly guiding fellow WWE Universe members on the road to SummerSlam. Although I feel I give GREAT directions (F you Google Maps I don’t need you!) I did fail you in regards to providing you directions to the what is essentially the AMAZING appetizer to Sunday’s extravaganza, NXT Takeover: Brooklyn.

For those of you who are more sports fans in general than just pro wrestling, NXT is WWE’s developmental league. The NBA has the D-League, MLB has MILB, the NFL kind of sort of used to have that with NFL Europe but that’s just…yeah it’s just that. So with NXT you have the next crop of up and coming future WWE superstars and divas that have come from all over the globe and wrestling promotions to begin their WWE career. Does NXT work? Yes. How so? 28 out of the scheduled 42 performers you will see this Sunday are products of FCW/NXT (FCW was NXT’s former name before the makeover). With that said, YOU SHOULD tune in for Saturday’s appetizer because if you’re going to continue watching WWE, who you see on Saturday night will be who you’ll be seeing for the next few years. AND BITCHES BETTER RECOGNIZE WHEN GATOR SPEAKS BITCHES LISTEN.(I hope you’ve seen The Other Guys)

With that said I gladly present the 2015 NXT Takeover: Brooklyn and WWE SummerSlam 2015 preview/predictions lituation!

(Sidenote: As we all know, NXT Takeover: Brooklyn is only 2 hours long on live tv with a television special being filmed before it for the live crowd that will appear on the WWE Network next week, for that I will focus on the ENTIRE card but more so on the main card for TakeOver)

NXT Taping

Eva Marie vs. Carmella: If you’re girlfriend is into reality shows like mine is then she probably watches Total Divas. If she does then all you have to do is mention Eva to her and BOOM she’ll want to watch. The girl who is all red everything is trying to show the world she can wrestle after spending months training with Brian Kendrick( THE Brian Kendrick). She’ll be taking on Carmella who will for sure be the favorite in front of the hometown crowd so look forward to the new wave of divas and seeing if Eva can indeed wrassle.

Bull Dempsey vs. Elias Samson: My guy BULLFIT is trying to show us how to do things his way in the weight loss world. Expect a squash match, but also expect a class in how to get BULLFIT.

Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch vs. Emma vs. Dana Brooke: In a strange way I’m confused as to why this is a fatal four-way and not a tag match. I guess the obvious reason that these four women are capable of putting on a SHOW, but with Emma and Dana Brooke having issues with Charlotte, and Charlotte being a part of PCB with her being C and Becky Lynch being B, why not just pair them together? Whatever it’ll be golden.

Hype Bros and Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. Jason Jordan & Chad Gable and Dash & Dawson: I HAVE NO IDEA HOW YOU DO A LIVE SPECIAL IN BROOKLYN AND NOT HAVE ENZO AMORE AND BIG CASS START YOUR SHOW! SERIOUSLY THEY ARE FROM STATEN ISLAND AND WILL HAVE A BIGGER POP THAN ANYONE ON THIS NIGHT YET IT WILL BE FOR THE TAPING AND NOT THE LIVE SPECIAL. HOW YOU DOIN?!?!?!?!?!?!

STATEN ISLAND’S FINEST

NXT Tag Team Title match: The Vaudevillains vs. Blake & Murphy: Oddly enough this tag match is PERFECT for Brooklyn. Consider this only if you’re from the city. The Vaudevillians represent the typical Upper Eastside resident whom have never even thought of venturing past 50th street and Fifth Avenue. On the opposite side you’ve got Blake & Murphy who are your weekly Turtle Bay and Pacha residents. The Vaudevillians will drink wine and want to discuss Hemingway. Blake & Murphy want to do molly while playing beer pong and the entire Jack U album, and guess what, it’s for the tag team titles. Don’t forget about Alexa Bliss in Blake & Murphy’s corner. She reminds you of the typical girl who hangs out in Bay Ridge (shout outs to the Ridge at the request of my girlfriend) at the Kettle Black, or even worse the Jersey Shore. The Vaudevillians have been advised to acquire someone to handle Alexis, hopefully it’s not Queen Elizabeth.

Samoa Joe vs. Baron Corbin: It seems as though Baron Corbin has been squashing competition for what seems like forever aside from Rhino and Bull Dempsey. Now after more squashing he comes across the “Submission Specialist” Samoa Joe. Corbin can’t squash Joe, but is Joe going to kill Corbin?

Apollo Crews vs. Tye Dillinger: I can admit that when it comes to wrestling I am only a fan of WWE. I was an ECW and WCW fan when they existed but that’s it. I tried to watch TNA but I never truly got into it. I can admit to not watching Ring of Honor or NJPW where guys like CM Punk and Daniel Bryan came from. In this case you have Dragon Gate’s recent alumni Uhaa Nation making his NXT television debut under his new name Apollo Crews. This will be WWE fans introduction to Apollo so hopefully he will get over in Brooklyn without any trouble.

Tyler Breeze vs. Jushin Thunder Liger: Like how Apollo comes from another wrestling promotion, Jushin Thunder Liger is a LEGEND in NJPW. He’s wrestled in WCW before but this will be his WWE debut. He’s going up against Prince Pretty who has been begging GM William Regal for some competition for weeks. Regal gives him the inventor of the shooting star press, and with Breeze not being Randy Orton, I suggest Tyler be alert.

NXT Women’s Championship match: Sasha Banks vs. Bayley: This has the feels of a Sami Zayn storyline. Bayley has returned after being out for two months and is on a road to claim the NXT Women’s Title. She went through Charlotte and took down Becky Lynch in a number one contender’s match. Now to complete this journey she has to take on the best diva in WWE (YEAH I SAID IT) the boss herself Ms. Sasha Banks…or as I call her Sasha BAE.

NXT Championship Ladder Match: Finn Balor vs Kevin Owens: This match truly needs no explanation. ITS OWENS VS BALOR IN A LADDER MATCH. Remember when I mentioned NXT having 28 superstars competing at SummerSlam? Well Owens and Ms. Banks are working doubles by performing BOTH SHOWS. So do I really have to explain why NXT is where it’s at. Finn captured the title in Japan on the 4th of July so this is Owens rematch. Owen needed a way to ensure he wouldn’t get cheated by GM Regal so a Ladder match is what we get, but honestly we get it because we deserve it. The true question is will the demon show?

Predictions for winners:

Apollo Crews

The Vaudevillians

Samoa Joe

Sasha Banks

Kevin Owens
The appetizer is filling, the appetizer is lit. Main course bring it on!
