CALLING ALL MADDEN PLAYERS! : A message from the Head of Madden at WGL

Hello folks! This is Brannin, Head of Madden at WGL. Madden Season is almost here! And I’m looking forward to being a part of the best Madden leagues and having the best Madden community in the world this year. I’m not interested in WGL providing good Madden leagues, we’ve had many good leagues in the past. I’m interested in providing GREAT leagues on both PS4 and XB1 for all our users and the users having a voice/input that will help achieve that goal.

For those who don’t know, our Madden community really started to take off on Madden 13 and a majority of the users who were in our leagues then are still with us now. We created a brotherhood. And like every brotherhood/family, we’ve had our ups and downs but in the end we’re all still here and we and we all still enjoy competing against each other in Madden leagues. Now, we’re looking to add more users to the brotherhood and grow the community.

What are our Madden leagues all about? Three things. 1. Having fun 2. Competition 3. Having fun. We want our users to most of all, have fun. That’s the key. It’s a video game. Something we’ve been playing since we were little. We still want a high level of competition, but don’t let having fun get lost in the midst of your competitive nature. We talk trash and have fun with it like any brotherhood, but respecting each other is also a key to the success of the leagues.

We offer two styles of Madden Leagues, “Sim” and “Freestyle”. “Sim” leagues are leagues that aim for realistic gameplay that we see when we watch the NFL on Sunday’s. Not abusing the same top Madden community play every play and running no-huddle all game to get over. The rules in “sim” leagues are made to make the games feel more realistic, but at the same time not make the users feel like they can’t play their game. All about finding that happy medium. And we’re always willing to listen to the users on suggestions for rule changes that will make “sim” leagues even better. “Freestyle” leagues are the complete opposite. ANYTHING goes (except known Madden community glitches). “Freestyle” leans more towards the Online Ranked Games style of play where you can call whatever you want, when you want to, no restrictions.

Our leagues operate on a 48 hour advance schedule. So you have two days to play one 40-45 minute game of Madden. Two days. I’m emphasizing this because we get a reputation that you have to have no life to keep up with our leagues. We all work, we all have lives, but just know if you sign up you’re signing up to play at least one game every 2 days. If all games are done before the 48 hour time limit, the league will advance.

Very excited about the Madden leagues for Madden 16. We have a lot of good ideas to make the leagues more fun and interactive. Not giving them all away now, but one addition will be “Inside WGL” which will be our bi-weekly video podcast where a league commish/admin comes on along with 2-4 other users and talks about various happenings in their Madden league. Such as a recap of the past games, power rankings, predictions on upcoming games, trash talk, etc. This gives people outside of the leagues a chance to keep up with what’s going on in the leagues and gives the people in the leagues a voice and opportunity to speak on what’s going on in the leagues.

Looking forward to adding a lot of new people to the brotherhood. Do you have what it takes to compete with some of the best Madden users in the world? Come prove it.
