Why @EASPORTS Should Bring Back Fight Night

Its been 4 long years since EA Sports has released a new entry in the great Fight Night series. Word on the street is the series is done for good, but why? Is it because boxing isn’t as big a sport as it used to be? I agree, it’s not the sport we grew up on, but thats why Fight Night is NEEDED.

Legends never die.  YouTube makes legendary fighters such as Muhammed Ali, Mike Tyson, Bernard Hopkins, George Foreman (yes, he didn’t always make grills kids) and many more accessible to a whole new generation of fans. Don’t you think these fans would love a chance to experience fighting as their favorite boxer just as we do? A new entry in the Fight Night series may even spark the interest of a new generation of kids that could grow up to be great fighters and revive the sport.

EA released boxing games (Knockout Kings) every year from 1998 until 2003, before changing the franchise to Fight Night in 2004 with a whole new control scheme and which revolutionized gameplay. We’ve loved Fight Night for the last 11 years, yet EA is basically ignoring our cries for a new game.

In high school, me and my friends literally would sit in my room for hours after school just playing Fight Night. It was tradition basically, and that tradition carried over into adulthood until, sadly, my friends got rid of their last gen consoles and I’m all alone playing Fight Night since life gets in the way of couch multiplayer.

Fight Night is more than a game to us fans, its a way to settle disagreements, its a way to build rivalries and most of all; its a way to whoop your friends’ ass and earn bragging rights. If you think losing to some one in Madden is bad, wait ’til you get knocked out with a perfectly timed counter hook in the first round. I did this to one of my best friends in 2009 and he STILL hasn’t lived it down.

We just want a game to get us excited again. Hell, We’ll even take an HD version of 2011’s Fight Night Champion for next gen console (just make sure to include the DLC and charge a fair price). We fans deserve another way to experience greatness

While we wait, feel free to challenge me in Fight Night Champion on 360 and PS3 if you still own these systems. I for one, will still be playing until EA pulls the plug on me and the other thousands of fans that still play. See you in the ring.
