Bottom Of the 9th User Interview: dalton22rox

We’re back for our second user interview from our MLB The Show online franchise and this time we’ve got one of our youngest in the league, Rays owner, Dalton.

Josh: How we doing? If you could start off with PSN, team name, systems you own and top 3 games all time.

Dalton: dalton22rox (made it when I was 12 lol). Rays, PS4 & PS3 and I really love MLB The Show and Crash Bandicoot & Sly Cooper were my shit growing up!

Josh: Yeah I know its a hard question trying to narrow it down, but those are some solid games right there.

Dalton: If they were to re-release one of Sly Cooper of Crash Bandicoot I would cry of happiness lol.

Josh: Man that’s how I feel about NCAA Football, I don’t even need a new game, just get it on the PS4.

Dalton: For reaaaaaaaaaaal. I’ve never really been that into football though, Madden is cool enough for me to buy it, but it rarely gets my time. It’s really fun to play with friends though.

Josh: So you’re strictly a baseball guy? Hard to disagree with that there though.

Dalton: I like 2K also. I play baseball and basketball also. I was just nominated for All-State in baseball today.

Josh: Wow, that’s wonderful, congratulations! What position do you play?

Dalton: Thanks man, appreciate it. I pitch and play shortstop.

Josh: How do you use your baseball and experience and knowledge while playing The Show? Do you feel like it can give you an advantage?

Dalton: Just situational stuff. Knowing when to bring in relievers, playing the lefty lefty match ups, when to bunt in certain situations. I actually wouldn’t mind being a coach one day, I love teaching and analyzing the game.

Sometimes yeah, I think it gives me an advantage, but the game comes down to you being able to hit and pitch a ball, which is all “skill”. I feel I put together a lineup that will manufacture runs when I need them, clearly as I’ve been winning lately.

Josh: Yeah for sure, you added Dee Gordon to a tough lineup he definitely makes it difficult to pitch around the middle of that order which has been leading to more runs I’m sure. Also seems like players tend to perform better when they’re at home, or maybe that’s just me. Could be tied into the clutch rating maybe.

Dalton: Nope, I agree completely 100%, maybe that’s just how the game works. And yeah that could be exactly what it is tbh.

Josh: Yeah cause I feel like I was making solid contact against you but every time it was hit right at a guy. Seems like your ballpark and defense really help you out, you can pitch to contact and not have to worry too much.

Dalton: Yeah that was happening to me against Mole too, hard line drives but they would be right at his defenders. I had that game won man! smh

Josh: Sometimes the better team just pulls the game out man, hate when you lose a heartbreaker.

Dalton: Yeah, maybe that’s what happened.

Josh: Are you a Rays fan in real life? If not, have you been keeping up with them more since taking them over in the league?

Dalton: Nope, Cards fan all the way. And I follow baseball pretty closely but I have been hoping the Rays pull out that win a little bit more since joining the league.

Josh: Another Cardinals fan? We’re gonna have to start screening these users smh. Has there been any players on your team exceeding expectations?

Dalton: Rene Rivera. It seems like every time I’m ready to trade him, he comes through with a big hit the next day. I moved him down in the lineup then back up then down then up, it’s crazy. Streaky hitter

Josh: Lmao I don’t know much about him but he’s not somebody I would want to be my every day catcher, does he play good defense?

Dalton: Yeah that’s what I was thinking coming into getting this team, lol. Yeah, he has like one passed ball and has thrown out quite a few runners. Threw out Billy Hamilton once, Danny will remember that lol

Josh: Well then he’s pretty valuable, nothing more satisfying than throwing out good baserunners on this game. That’s what I love about this game, it helps bring out the emotion in baseball that many people may not understand.

Dalton: Oh yeah definitely.

Josh: Any player on your team off to a slow start? Or slumping right now that is keeping your team from reaching its full potential?

Dalton: I’ll say Desmond Jennings and Evan Longoria. I had Jennings batting leadoff at the beginning of the year but he was struggling and now he finds himself in the bottom half. Longoria has been struggling as well but he won’t be removed from the 3 hole.

Josh: Yeah I think Jennings may be a little overrated honestly. And with Longoria he seems like one of those guys who may not translate over to video games well because he does the little things so well.

Any users in the league you’re excited to potentially play? How do you think your division will play out by seasons end?

Dalton: I’m excited to finish out this series with Mole, he talks a lot of trash, but it’s all in good competition and fun, so it makes it even sweeter if I were to beat him. I don’t know who I really play the rest of the season, so I guess we’ll just see how things go. I think I’ll pull close to Mole, but I don’t know if I’ll ever reach him. Just trying to hang in for a postseason spot.

Josh: Yeah he’s got a good record it’s hard to catch up sometimes no matter how well you’re playing

Dalton: Truth. He’s good too, so he’s going to keep winning against weaker users.

Josh: Yeah I haven’t played him yet but he seems like he sticks to his gameplan.

Dalton: Yeah he manufactures runs big time, that top of the order is TOUGH!

Josh: Is there anything missing from online franchise mode that would improve the game for you?

Dalton: Not right off top really. I don’t have much to complain about, pretty solid gameplay online.

Josh: Yeah it does play well I’m glad they’re spending time on it. Online gamers provide such a huge market base.

Dalton: Definitely, this is the first game I’ve played online with. Always stuck to RTTS and decided I’d give this a try and I’m very happy about the decision.

Josh: I’m glad we’ve been able to provide a good experience for you. It’s kind of late so I don’t want to keep you much longer so to end it off, what’s one question you want to ask the next interviewee

Dalton: It’s a lotta fun! Didn’t know how I would like it at first, but I’m starting to compete now, and it’s becoming part of my everyday routine.

What keeps you interested in staying in the league?

Josh: How would you answer that?

Dalton: The competition. I’m a competitive guy so I want to be the best and win everything I’m in and the possibility of winning something like this keeps me interested.

Josh: Thank you much for taking the time.

Dalton: Thanks for interviewing me! You guys are doing a top notch job with this league!

Ready to hit.

Ready to hit.
